Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) Educational Trust, the charitable arm of DFI, recently awarded 10 scholarships totaling $47,750 to students pursuing careers in civil and geotechnical engineering.
The scholarships went to the following recipients.
Charles J. Berkel Memorial Scholarship Fund ($5,000)
- Laura Viera, junior, University of California, BerkeleyÂ
LANGAN Engineering & Environmental Services Legacy Scholarship Fund ($6,250 each)
- Ella Berkowitz, junior, is the recipient of the Bernard F. Langan Scholarship at Purdue University.
- Caroline Evans, graduate student, received the Donald J. Murphy Memorial Scholarship at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
- Daisy Jung, senior, was awarded the George P. Kelley Memorial Scholarship at Drexel University.
Manuel Fine Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund ($4,000 each)
- Rishav Jaiswal, graduate student, McMaster University
- Charlotte Trainor, junior, University of WaterlooÂ
Penn State Scholarship Fund ($4,000 each)
- Diana DeLeon, senior
- Aavash Ghimire, graduate student
University of Pittsburgh Scholarship Fund ($4,000 each)
- Samantha Achille, senior
- Jemma Sikora, sophomore
Since 2006, the Trust has awarded $2.7 million in scholarships and grants to more than 700 individuals.
