Start a New Endowment Fund

Invest in the next generation by establishing an endowment with the DFI Educational Trust. Endowed funds create a lasting source of support for students while helping shape the future of the geotechnical profession.

Designed to provide ongoing funding for initiatives that matter most to you, a new fund can be tied to a particular academic focus, institution, region, or area of study and can support scholarships, student participation in industry events, travel opportunities, or other programs that expand learning and professional development for years to come.

How It Works

  • 1. Open

Open a named endowment fund with a minimum of $25,000.

  • 2. Designate

Designate funds to your chosen purpose at the time of setup.

  • 3. Disburse

Annual disbursements are based on the net investment earnings and net operational earnings allocated to the fund each year and at the discretion of the DFI Educational Trust Board of Trustees. (“Operational earnings” are defined as the net proceeds from fundraising drives and individual donations to the fund).

  • 4. Fully Funded

A named fund shall be deemed fully funded when the targeted endowment goal of $200,000 has been reached.

What is an Endowment Fund

An endowment is a permanent fund established to provide ongoing financial support that supports the organization’s mission and operations. The principal of the fund is invested and generally preserved, while a portion of the investment earnings is distributed annually to support the funds purpose. This structure ensures long-term financial stability and allows a donor’s contribution to generate sustained impact over time.
